Ride A Pet Mutations Guide (x2 to x100)

Mutations are the biggest single multiplier in Ride A Pet — a x100 Eternal turns an ordinary pet into an endgame mount. They are also permanent and random, so the decision is which pet you park on the ranch.

1. The five mutations

Shocked is x2 speed and the most common. Volted is x3 and Rage x4 — both mid tier. Void is x10 and Eternal is x100, the strongest documented mutation in the game.

Each mutation appears during its own storm type with a matching visual, so you can see what is rolling before you commit a pet to the ranch.

2. They multiply speed, not income

The documented multipliers are all speed multipliers. A mutated pet does not earn more money for the same work, so a storm is not a substitute for riding an income pet.

That matters because the two multipliers people confuse are on different axes: mutations scale speed, while rebirth gives you a permanent +1x Money Multiplier. If your problem is cash, the answer is rebirth and the right pet, not a storm — see the money guide.

3. Park the right pet on the ranch

Mutations apply to pets placed on the Mutation Ranch in the Overworld while a storm is active. The pet you leave there is the pet that gets hit, so a storm is an opportunity you spend — not something you passively collect.

Because a mutation is permanent on that pet, never park a starter. Mutating a Snail gives you a fast Snail; mutating a Fox or higher gives you a pet that competes with the endgame. Full stat ladder on the pets page.

Food is worth feeding to the parked pet first. Higher-level pets provide better stats, and a mutation multiplies the pet's speed as it stands — so levelling a Fox before a storm is a multiplier on the multiplier.

4. Which pet to park: a decision table

Snail, Turtle, Sloth, Axolotl, Koala — never. You will replace these within one session and the mutation is stuck on them.

Capybara, Chicken, Pig, Elephant, Panda — only if a storm is up and you have nothing better, and only if you expect to keep it for several sessions.

Kangaroo (125 jump), Spider (129 jump), Cheetah (117 jump) — worthwhile even though their speed is mid, because jump is the stat that stops players completing terrain and mutations do not touch it. A mutated high-jump pet stays useful as a tool.

Fox (19,500 speed) and above — the intended target. A x10 Void on Fox is 195,000 speed, which beats every unmutated pet below Cheetah.

5. They never stack, but they do upgrade

A pet can only hold one mutation at a time. If a stronger mutation hits a pet that already has a weaker one, the weaker one is replaced automatically — the tier can only move up, never down.

That makes repeated storms on the same pet productive rather than wasted: a Shocked pet is still eligible for an Eternal. Lower-tier mutations can never downgrade a pet that already has a better one.

In practice this means one good pet can soak up every storm you see, with no risk of losing ground. That is a better strategy than spreading storms across a wide roster.

6. Where storms are most likely

Mutation storms are server-wide rather than fixed to one spot, but the Desert Zone's Sandstorm Ridge is documented as the area most prone to triggering them. Keep a pet on the Overworld ranch and stay in the session when weather rolls in.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get mutations in Ride A Pet?

Place a pet on the Mutation Ranch in the Overworld and wait for a weather storm. The pet on the ranch is the one that gets mutated, which is why you should only ever park a pet you intend to keep.

Do Ride A Pet mutations stack?

No. A pet holds one mutation at a time. A stronger mutation replaces a weaker one automatically, so the multiplier can only move up — a Shocked pet is still eligible for an Eternal, never the reverse.

Do mutations multiply income in Ride A Pet?

No. The documented multipliers — Shocked x2, Volted x3, Rage x4, Void x10, Eternal x100 — all apply to speed. Money comes from the income stat on the pet you ride plus your rebirth Money Multiplier.
